With Mindfulness, Anything Is a Gateway to Nirvana!

Lots of interruptions to sleep last night. Woke up feeling rather groggy, and that feeling continued as I drove to work, to start an early day. Many “negative” thoughts appeared - not wanting to have to work so early, complaints about other drivers on the road, and complaints about how my body was feeling.

At first, the old ways of dealing with this appeared - like feeling bad about the “bad” thoughts, trying to get rid of them and “get positive”. Didn’t work so well...

But then, as I was approaching the workplace, the new habit started - simply being aware of, and accepting, all the thoughts and feelings.

A new one appeared, into awareness, accepted, and faded.

Then I realized (“re-realized”) that the content of the thoughts doesn’t really matter. It’s the awareness of them that counts. Whatever the thought, being aware of it, and not making a story about it, not doing anything with it, puts you into the open awareness that is the doorway to wisdom, joy - nirvana!

So that’s it - a very simple practice.
