Letting Go of Thoughts, Feelings - Awareness of Them Comes First!

Practicing mindfulness in daily life is like a mix - a ratio of letting go and awareness.

Yesterday, it felt like the letting go component was set too high.

Felt a little numbed out, like I wasn’t feeling the feelings that came in, and also wasn’t that aware of the thoughts. Wasn’t quite right...

Today, the correct balance came back. Driving, walking here and there, playing weddings, going to lunch...thoughts and feelings came in, I was aware of them, and then let them go. This resulted in a wonderful experiencing of thoughts, feelings, and happenings, and, since I wasn’t clinging to any of them, a smooth flow from one moment to the next.

So the correct practice is: be aware, don’t cling. Ah! Next moment...
