Woke up and read a blurb about intention - from Tricycle’s Buddha fest 2019 announcement:
“Everything Hangs on Intention: How to Align Your Intentions with Your Real Values
Featuring Sylvia Boorstein
The Buddha instructed his son, Rahula to''reflect before, during, and after every action on whether your motivation is the desire to end suffering for yourself and all beings.''
This implies that either your intention is so solidly grounded in your understanding of dukkha, inherent suffering in life, that you cannot misstep without your moral compass sounding an alarm or else you act very, very slowly.“
===================================
It was about really keeping and living by the intention to alleviate suffering- the Bodhisattva Vow!!
Looking at my life and career from time to time...getting to rather an advanced age, and still haven’t “made it big” as a musical artist. Probably won’t (although it’s not impossible), so, what am I doing here?
Again, having discovered the path, the life, of being here now, awareness, mindfulness, etc., and having experienced how it’s radically improved my life; and seeing how, especially these days, how so many people are stuck in suffering due to clinging tightly to thoughts and concepts; I have a great desire to help them by turning them on to what I’ve found!
And that Bodhisattva Vow - to relieve suffering - goes deeper and wider than that: moment-to-moment, if I’m aware and letting go of my attachments, since everyone is connected, just that helps this world! And, being aware and present in this moment, I automatically perceive what to do and say to help! As Dae Soen Sa Nim said, “Correct function, correct situation, correct relationship!”
This is it!!!
And to take it even further, letting go of the “I” idea, letting go of “my life” idea, etc....
Just coming back to being in this moment....helping myself to be relieved of suffering and helping all beings - no self, no beings; only helping! Only this moment, doing it!!!
Have been practicing DLMP (Daily Life Mindfulness Practice) via Dr. Thynn Thynn’s book, “Meditate without Meditating”. Also doing exercises from the book - currently, listing likes and dislikes, and, when they arise, just being aware of the bare feelings of like or dislike.
It really felt like that innate compassion and wisdom were being uncovered!
I can see how continuing this practice is bound to reveal innate compassion and wisdom more and more, and I can see how turning people on to it - teaching it, even - can make a big difference in healing a lot of suffering in this world, and in people’s lives!!!
This is IT!!!!
